Drugs

Willie has grasped that drugs are very bad for you.

He heard on Sports Center report that some player was doing drugs which led to him to a series of questions of Jay and me. Then there's my commitment that he will be prepared for the temptations in life--lots of open and honest discussion. (My strategy is Jesus combined with strong case of FEAR.)

Is my too son too young? Not in my opinion. If he asks a question we're going to address it and if he asks more questions we'll keep answering them. If he can understand how to play varieties of poker and knows the handbook rules of multiple sports...he can grasp it.

He gets that it ruins your plans, could kill you, hurts your family and friends deeply, costs alot, jailtime, did I say could kill you etc. (Not easy to gloss over it when your parents are in law enforcement).

Before bed the other night, he slinks into Ruby's room where I was helping her get ready for bed. He has his kid toothpaste in hand, and says he doesn't think he should use it anymore.

what? why?

Turns out, in his procrastination, he was reading the back of the tube and found the "Active Drug" list. (which is sodium flouride if you're wondering).

So another conversation on medicinal drugs and I'm holding on the conversation on prescription addictions for now.
