Sunshine!

Sunshine comes in many forms.

1) We got ETSU in overtime!!

Slater drops 35; Bisons best ETSU 85-84 in overtime - Lipscomb University Official Athletic Site

2) My children's faces.

3) And the real deal.....What a beautiful day!

We ventured out from our bunny slopes in our yard today to the above neighborhood Episcopal church. We were ready for a bit more challenge. Here's Willie's favorite clip of the day:

Tim M, Thanks for this idea! I wanted to get Ruby's face. I didn't venture it on a big hill but we'll remember her thrill now!

Snow!!!

Heard on the news that Crieve Hall (our old neighborhood) and Oak Hill (our new neighborhood) just across interstate basically got most snow! I'd say 6-7 inches probably. Bisons left town a day early to be sure not to miss their game today against ETSU today. Before we work on whipping them, here's one of my favorite shots from that sweet victory---wonder why? Go back to to my post on Belmont game (a couple back). Sweet highlight video added!

Kids and I have enjoyed being snowed in and together with no where to go. Willie's been cooking a bit as usual. He loves to cook his own eggs. I do supervise since he's just six, but he can do it solo with no help. Yesterday, he opted to make an omelet. See here....it turned out the size of a shoe and he ate it all!!! This is the omelet secret recipe that Granny gave us this year where you could fix all of your omelette's at one time hot! and to every one's customized specifications. It really is a nice way to do your omelette's especially if a six year old is making them or if you have a big crowd to serve.

Kind of hard to sled without dad's extra push. Willie is happy with this hill so I'm not going to traipse around looking for steepness without daddy.

In fact, we got to get out there today and hit the slopes! Then we'll snuggle up with hot chocolate and listen to a dog fight I imagine with ETSU. And, I hope to Goodness, I can find MSU playing LSU. If not, we'll have to settle for that Blue #1 team against Vandy in the background while we play.

Our Haiti Response Party we had scheduled today is postponed until next week.

birthdays, basketball, birthdays, basketball

Last couple of weeks... it's been one or the other or both--Birthdays or Basketball.

We have to make parties simple planning in this hectic time of year.....Ruby celebrated with family at home and with family at Build A Bear. Jay flight arrived just in time to drive to the party factory at Chuck E. Cheese!

As for basketball, Bisons took 2 hard losses at home at buzzers. Had we beat them we'd be in #1 right now so it's hard to stomach. We'll adjust but it that part of this weekend didn't go as planned.

Willie's Kindergarten team was moved up to first grade ranks. We've been winning by 30 point margins so for the good for all....WNSL moves you up. We got beat 12-2 which was a bit better than we were all expecting. The team was supposedly best first grade team and their coach said we were best opponent they've had yet so we should be all right. As for our 2 points, birthday boy got them thanks to great assist by Isaiah.

Here's some shots of all the fun! See you at the game.....

Last week I posted on 3 years ago. Tonight, I'm reflecting on 6 years ago tomorrow. We headed out to hospital in wee hours of morning with certainty that our son would be born that day since my water broke.

Things I remember....I didn't call the doctor until I found it in 2 different books that I should head on hospital at this point (don't think anyone had mentioned what I should do.) Jay asked to stop and get a biscuit on the way. This worked out fine since I wasn't in labor. I really was ready to get on with it, but I would have worried all day that he was hungry so....yeah, sure, get you a biscuit, honey. I've only been cooking this little biscuit in my belly for 9 months.

I was a bit annoyed that Jay was flipping a magazine at the onset of pitocin (sp?) but once got the 2nd epidural (yes, they screwed up first one and Jay says I let them have it...) in place....all was good. Fun day...having a baby. Then all hell broke loose....Dr. Burch was up in my face explaining why we needed to change courses and I was thinking....I don't care!!!..and finally ended in emergency C-section around 6:30 p.m.. Willie was bit beat up but healed in the NICU the next few days.

Things I don't remember--everything after his birth until recovery room. I didn't get to hold him but I'll never forget the nurse who made it possible to get me to NICU at 4 a.m. next morning.

Things I know now...Wow! What a special kid! He's passionate about numbers and ball. He chatters incessantly and I can't wait to see him every day after he gets home from Kindergarten. He's our son and our friend!

This is Willie (not Wilkes Wallace though Willie is so proud that his new cousin looks like him as a newborn.)

Proud Daddy!

One of my favorite pics at 6 months.

Proud Granny!

Almost 6....Happy Birthday, Willie Walton!!

3 years ago today, Jay and I were soon to be awakened with signs that our little baby girl would be here soon. We got to hospital by 5:00 a.m. it seems and she was here by 6:30 (oh, the breeze of 2nd C Section).
Little things I remember....

Dr. Burch brought Jay coffee. When Jay called our parents, he couldn't get my dad to wake-up. Jay was eventually hollering "Willie, it's me Jay- your son in law." Daddy hung up confused and dazed....thinking he was dealing with some LC Sheriff's issue I guess. Big Brother Willie whispered at 3 years old upon meeting Ruby, "It's me Ruby, your brother, Willie." Ruby was in ICU first 24 hours and I was tied down with catheter.... so Jay brought me a picture of Ruby and I was amazed at how beautiful her lips were as a newborn. Jay and Willie wore pink in honor of baby sister.

And what I know now...3 years later---Girls, are amazing! Happy Birthday, Ruby!

New Leagues

Jay's recruiting games were canceled on Friday night due to weather so we headed out as a family to do what---watch a little basketball! Carter is a senior this year and I've never seen him play on his H.S. team. I forgot how much fun high school basketball is; and great game, Carter! Thinking I didn't catch him in position here in this pic, but I went with a Defensive shot in true Sanderson style.

Speaking of defense, we were quite proud of our little Willie on Saturday. WNSL (now in my top 3 favorite leagues with SEC and A-SUN). Wow, he can D up! He ran the court like a champ, knocked down a sweet jumper, and played smart! No pictures this week though.

Oh, yes, and Bison defense is looking alot better! Enough to hold Belmont down good last night. Check out a great video of highlights from game at www.Lipscombsports.com/mbasketball.
Oh, so sweet. Tim Tebow even made a guest appearance. Well, by video! He wished the Bisons well and announced to the 5500 record-breaking crowd that he would be at LU Athletics' Don Meyer Dinner for Excellence on April 17th! Get your tickets starting 1/25. I can't wait to hear him speak.
Josh Slater....

Student Section and Coach Jay

Ruby started her Jump, Jazz & Roll class today. Perfect timing since it's her birthday gift to start dance/gym classes. She was so excited she could barely contain herself. And truth be told, I was out my league on this one but we were both grinning ear to ear.

A Dusting

Two snow days and we got at best " a dusting." I quit watching the news but then was surprised with maybe an inch on Saturday. Willie was thrilled to finally use his sled that Santa brought in 2008! Our driveway proved to be perfect slope for our young family. Daddy was our motor to make it all work which he claimed for his official job after one driveway dive for himself! (Pause my playlist at bottom so you can hear our family chatter in the videos).
